Hudson David, you are 2 months old! I can't believe that another
month has come and gone already. While we are so excited for you to grow
and learn new things, time really needs to slow down! Next thing you
know, you'll be asking for the car keys, at which point I will have a
heart attack! ;)

So not into this photo - haha!
At your 2 month check-up today you
weighed 12 lbs, 9.1 oz (65th percentile), you are 23 1/4" long (60th
percentile) and your head is 15 3/4" (50th percentile). You also had to
get 2 shots today, and you screamed louder than we've ever heard you
scream before. Poor thing! Don't worry, I will give you extra cuddles
today :) You are still wearing some
0-3 month onsies (you are too long for the 0-3 month footed pjs), but
have also started wearing your 3 month outfits. Some of the 3 month
outfits fit perfectly, while the others are still just slightly too big.
You are very long and slender, so outfits usually fit you length-wise,
but are a little loose width-wise. You are still a chunky monkey
though...it looks like you have rubber bands around your wrists, ankles
and thighs with all the little rolls you have! Your sweet cheeks are also
still round as ever! You are now in a size 2 diaper.

Poor baby legs after shots :(
This month consisted of more eating, sleeping and pooping
(it's so complicated being a baby), but you have also had a lot more
play/happy time! For the first month and a half, you had pretty bad
gas/tummy issues that caused some very hard fussy periods. It was
horrible to see you in pain. Recently, it seems that those issues have
gotten a lot better (especially because Mama has cut out a lot of
cheese, which seems to help). You are a happy boy most of the time, and
you have really been showing us that sweet smile a lot this month! It's
no longer just a reflex...you are intentionally looking at us and
smiling up a storm! It has been so fun to see your little personality starting to emerge.
One of my favorite times of the day is getting you out of your crib in
the morning and seeing that big smile spread across your face when you
see me. Melts my heart! You have also started to imitate us. We will sit
and talk to you for 20 minutes, making different noises and sticking
out our tongues, and then you do it right back - maybe not the exact
same noises, but you are trying! Although, Daddy and I swear that you
will say "Hi" back to us when we say it. You are a genius :) Here's a
little video of you "talking" to me and showing me your tongue. *Please
ignore my silliness and focus on the cute baby!!
In addition to cooing/talking to us, you are also squealing in a really
high pitched voice and trying to giggle. You will do this when we're
talking to you, but also when you are on your playmat or changing table
playing. Your changing table is definitely one of your
favorite places for whatever reason - maybe because you are up high and
can see so much?! You also have started following us with your eyes when we move around the room, and turn to look for us when we walk away. You are also starting to recognize our voices and will turn to look toward us when we talk to you.
You started sleeping in your crib this week, and so far it has
gone really well! You are still sleeping through the night (from about 9
p.m. until 7 a.m.), and nap time in the crib is still a work in
progress. Some days you nap really well and other days you wake up after
20-30 min. I looked at the video monitor about 100 times that first
night you were in the crib because I was so nervous about you sleeping
in a new place. BUT, I am much more comfortable with you being in your
crib so that you have more room to stretch out and so that we can use
the movement sensor monitor as well. If you stop moving for more than 20
seconds an alarm will go off. I hope that never happens, but it makes
me feel a little better knowing that it is there. You are still a pretty
noisy sleeper though, so most of the time I can just listen to your
little baby snores and grunts on the video monitor or look at you moving
around and know that you are OK!

Tummy time is getting better. You no longer scream the entire
time and you are doing mini push-ups and lifting your head off the mat
pretty consistently now. This past weekend, you actually lifted your head and your
chest both up off the mat a few times and were smiling like you were so
proud of yourself! Last night, I laid you down in the trunk of my SUV to
change your diaper while we were out, and you started moving your head
and body from side to side really quickly, and almost flipped yourself
over from back to belly. When you are on your tummy, you do move your
legs a lot and sometimes even get up on your knees. The other day, you
moved your body around in a circle and lunged forward a couple inches.
It seriously looked like you could crawl any day. I know that you won't
anytime soon, as your arms and head need to catch up. But it does scare
me a little bit to think about you being mobile in just a few short
months!

So proud of yourself!
|
Strong boy!
You do have a very strong neck...you now hold your head up and
look around when anyone is holding you with hardly any wobbling! You
also don't like to be cradled like a baby very much anymore (only when
you're tired), and would rather be sitting up and facing out to the
world so you can see everything like a big boy. You are very curious!
You are also trying to put weight on your legs, and will stand on them
for a couple of seconds with our support.
I've started giving you a couple of bottles of breastmilk during
the day to get you ready for when I go back to work in just 3 short
weeks. I can't believe it's coming up so soon :( You eat so much slower
on the bottle, probably because it's not really what you want, but you
are adjusting pretty well. You will go to daycare part-time Monday,
Wednesday and Friday for a couple of months. Yaya will watch you on
Tuesdays and Nonna and Poppy will watch you on Thursdays. Hopefully this
will be an easy transition for you (and me!) to get you used to
daycare. Eventually you will go full time.
Other loves at this age:
• Your Sophie Giraffe toy - you hold it when you're in your carseat and sometimes lick it!
• Your hands - you clasp them together and also try to stuff your entire fist in your mouth! Which brings up your other new thing - your tongue! You stick it out all the time!
• Sitting on Mommy and Daddy's bed in the morning and looking up at the fan
• Outside - you are so content out in the fresh air!
•
Sleep! As I said above, you are still sleeping through the night, and
you also take 4-5 naps a day. Sometimes they are 1 1/2 - 2 hours long,
other times just 20-30 min, but you love to sleep! I sometimes have to
strip you down to your diaper while you eat to keep you awake too.
• Walks in your stroller - you will look around for a little bit
and then take a little snooze when we go for a walk after dinner
•
Bath time - you are very content and like the warm water being poured
on you. You smile and are super happy when Daddy dries you off as well!
