3 Months

So I know this is a little late...OK, a lot late! BUT, I had this all written on the 15th, and then little man got sick. And life was busy and I got distracted. For 2 weeks. OOPS! But I finally compiled all of his pictures to get this post finished! I hope to make better progress for his 4 month post, which is literally next week. Seriously, how does time go by so fast these days? :)

Hudson David, you are 3 months old! According to some of the websites and books I've read, you are no longer considered a newborn. :( Daddy and I sat on the couch the other night after you went to bed and scrolled through the pictures of you on our phones from your first 3 months. You have grown so much! While this makes me just a tiny bit sad (I already miss the days when you could curl up in a little ball on my chest and snuggle), I am also so excited about all of the things that you are doing now, and all of the things to come!

I mean, really, how do you get much cuter than this?
That's how! Our little model!

This month, you have been a very busy boy! You constantly like to be moving or playing. You have gotten very good at sitting up in your little activity chair like a big boy. You hold your neck up with no wobbling at all, and I think you enjoy the view you have from your new perspective. You are so good at sitting up, that you now pretty much only want to be in that position all the time. When we lay you down or put you in your car seat, you lift your head up and will grab on to your thigh to try to pull yourself up. Or, if we grab your hands, you will pull yourself all the way from a lying down position to fully standing up. You will stand there for several minutes and look around, or if you are feeling extra spunky, you have even started taking steps or stepping up onto mommy's lap (while we are still holding your arms of course). Can you say trouble? :) Because you like to stand so much, we also started putting you in your jumper. You are still a little too short for it, so we have to put a cardboard box underneath it so you can stand/jump. You also are a little unsure of it right now, but each time we put you in it you get a little more confident and have more and more fun. When you do tummy time, you are thisclose to rolling over, but then you grab on to the blanket you are laying on and pull yourself back down. I'm sure once you let go of your fears, you will be rolling all over the place! For now, you do grab onto the blanket and kick your little legs like crazy to lunge forward and around in a circle instead. Maybe you will skip straight to crawling, who knows?!

You have also really discovered your voice this month! You had been making noises quite a bit, but now you will full on "talk" for several minutes at a time. It's like you are truly having a conversation. It all started one day over at Nonna and Poppy's house. We were changing your diaper right next to where they keep all the toys and stuffed animals. You kept looking over at the big stuffed dinosaur, so once we finished changing your diaper, we set the dinosaur down on top of you. You immediately grabbed on to it, stared it in the eyes and started cooing, screaming and laughing at it. I have never seen you get so excited about a toy! You went on and on, and when we took it away from you, you started crying. Ever since then, you will talk to anything or anyone that will listen. If you let us have a word in edge-wise, we will talk back to you and you usually try to repeat back the same sounds that we make. You are learning so quickly!

Talking to the dinosaur
Your little personality has really emerged this month too! You love to look around and take everything in with a very serious face. You're our little thinker! But you also love to flash that big gummy smile that just makes our hearts explode! You do this thing where you smile, and then squint your eyes and turn away bashfully. Already a little flirt! You must know that Mama will do pretty much anything you want if you smile at me like that. You have started to sort of giggle, and it is the cutest little sound. Every time we try to get it on video, you quit doing it - of course :) You are the same with pictures too. You will have the biggest smile, and then get really serious as soon as the camera comes out. While you are a happy boy most of the time, you also have a bit of a temper on you. Especially if it's feeding time and we are not getting your food to you quickly enough. You loooove your milk my little chunky monkey!

The many faces of Hudson:

Speaking of chunky monkey, you weighed in at 14 lbs and 2 oz at the doctor a couple days ago. You are still breastfeeding like a champ when we are home, and you take a bottle with no problems at all when you're at daycare or with your grandparents. You are still in size 2 diapers, and have now moved into 3-6 month outfits, as well as some 6 month outfits. You are still long and slender, so you grow out of things length-wise quickly. I can't wait to see how long you are at your 4 month check-up and where you stand percentile-wise with all your measurements.

Here are some other fun tidbits from your 3rd month:

- You started daycare this month, and have done so well! They say you are the best little baby, and you love to watch the other babies in your class. And when I say other babies, I mean baby girls, because you are the only boy in your class...figures :) You also have a lot of fun with Yaya on Tuesdays and Nonna and Poppy on Thursdays!
- You have really shown interest in your toys/blankets this month. You will grab onto them and pull them straight to your mouth! You also like to grab Mommy's hair - ouch! :)
- You still have your hands in your mouth constantly and are drooling like crazy.
- You lost more of your hair this month - leaving you with a mullet in the back, and a little bit of fuzz growing in up top
- You are still sleeping through the night - now from about 8 p.m. - 7 a.m., and you take about 4 shorter naps a day. Hopefully in the next few months we can get you on a longer 2 nap a day schedule. I'm not going to complain about our current situation though, as you are doing so well in the sleep department!
- You love Dr. Seuss books! Even though they are longer books, you will sit in my lap and look at the pages and listen to me read the entire thing. One of your favorites is Hop on Pop.
- Current Nicknames: Little Man, Boo Boo, Buddy, Baby Boy, Chunky Monkey, Huddy Buddy
