12 Months

Hudson David, you are 12 months old - one whole year old! How is that possible? Hands down, this was the absolute fastest year of our lives. It must be because it was so very full. Full of love. Full of learning. Full of laughs. Full of firsts. Sure there were tough moments... moments where we felt like we were failing at this new parents gig. Times where we couldn't comfort you, or figure out what was wrong. Times where you completely changed up your routine and had us confused about what to do next. But those tough times were so rare in a year that was full of so many more good things.

You walked out of your room right before your 1st birthday party, and you looked like a little boy - not so much a baby anymore. It was one of those moments that just hit me. I see you every day, and I've seen how you've grown. But on this day, it's like you had grown up that much more during your 2 1/2 hour nap.

Maybe it's also because you started walking this month! You started walking on March 24th, and never looked back. It's hard to believe it's only been a few weeks, because you are already so proficient at it. Sure you still wobble and fall sometimes, but it's happening less and less. You are even starting to try to "run" a little - you are just walking really really fast, but you are in more of a hurry to get where you want to go. You really don't crawl anymore, which was really that last little part of baby in you!

Here's what else you're up to on your first birthday:

Stats: 30.5 inches tall (75th percentile), 21 lbs & 2.6 oz (50th percentile), 18 in head circumference (27th percentile). Long, lean boy - just like Daddy!

Teeth: You have 7 teeth. 4 on top, and 3 on the bottom. I don't know when that 4th one is going to poke through on the bottom side to make things even - it's no where to be found!

You Love: playing outside, bath time, reading, being tickled & laughing

Favorite Books: The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Barnyard Dance & Moo, Baa, La, La, La

Favorite Toys: Little Tykes car, Elephant ball popper, ball pit/tunnel & stuffed animals

Favorite Foods: Strawberries, blueberries, goldfish, black beans - pretty much anything actually. You LOVE to eat!

Development: You can...crawl, walk, wave "bye bye," clap, give kisses, dance

You can say: Mama, Dada, Bye Bye (da dye), that (dat), this (dis), dog (da), night night (nigh nigh), banana (nana)

Nicknames: Little Man, Boo Boo, Boo Bear, Booger, Hud

Thanks to you, this has been the best year of our lives! We have loved experiencing every new milestone and seeing the world through your innocent eyes. We love you to the moon and back little man!
