This weekend, we were able to spend some time with friends and family, and get a couple of things checked off of our baby to-do list!
Friday Night - After work Friday, Kyle and I headed over to a co-worker's house for a get together for Kyle's team at work. Kyle works with some really great people (we are both blessed in that way), so we always have a great time when we all get together. We ate yummy food, had a couple drinks (Dr. Pepper was my splurge for the night - woohoo) and had enjoyed hanging out with everyone. Although I have to say, staying out until 11 really did me in - I was exhausted when we got home!
Saturday - We woke up Saturday and got things ready to move the guest room from upstairs to the downstairs bedroom. Then we met our BFF's Brittney & Chris (and baby Madeline) at USA Baby to check out their furniture sale. It really was our first time looking, so it was a little overwhelming, and we didn't really know what to expect. We decided to think about it a little, so we went out to lunch, and then had Britt and Chris over to our house to watch the UK game. During half time, Kyle and Chris moved the guest bed and dresser to the extra bedroom downstairs to clear out the room for the nursery (thanks boys)! We did some research online, and we decided that the crib and dresser package that we liked at USA Baby was a really good deal, especially because it's really great quality. Since it was a one day sale, Kyle and I headed back up to the store that afternoon and purchased our first big baby items! We couldn't decide between the crib below and one that had more of a decorative curve at the top. Since we don't know what we're having yet, and because we hope to use these pieces for a future child, we figured this one was more gender neutral. After making the big purchase, we went out to eat with Kyle's parents and Granny and then headed over to the Hughes house to watch Horrible Bosses. Below is a picture of what the crib and dresser look like.
Sunday - Kyle woke up early to go golfing with Ryan, so I got up and made my rounds to Walmart, Target and the grocery to pick up some necessities. I then came home and started working on organizing the guest room closet downstairs a little, putting things in rubbermaid bins and cleaning out the clutter. Maybe a little early nesting going on? :) Once Kyle got home, we decided to run around a little to some stores to get ideas for our Christmas lists. We ended up buying a couple things for ourselves and then came home to pulled BBQ chicken sandwiches made in the crockpot. YUM!
Whew - now I just need one more day to relax and recuperate! I wish! It felt good to get some things checked off of what seems like a never-ending list. Once we get past the holidays and once the furniture comes in, we will start working on painting, bedding, etc! Can't wait!
